Would MMORPGs be better off without a level cap?

MMORPG Level CapI've noticed there have been a lot of MMORPGs in the past that have had hardly any players who reached the level cap years after the MMORPGs release. MMORPGs such as Flyff have only gained their first players who reached the max level only a few years after its release. This is why Im wondering if it would be better for MMORPGs to just let players keep going, since it will allow them progress without any limitations. Because once you reach the maximum level, a lot of the progression just stops, meaning players don't really have as much of a reason to keep playing.

Of course this depends on the MMORPG. For example World of Warcraft or League of Legends are exceptions to this because most of the content becomes available after reaching the level cap. But other MMORPGs with much harder level caps to reach don't put as much time into the far end game content because not that many people reach such levels. I think it would be a great idea to just allow players to keep leveling infinitely. If not, then at least have a rebirth system like some MMORPGs do, which gives players benefits for reaching maximum level and then resetting back to level one with many new perks. Simply to allow people to keep progressing.
